Five Local Players Named to All-State Teams

The Alabama Sports Writers Association’s All-State teams were announced late Saturday night. Two area players received first-team honors while two players landed on the second team, and one was a  third-team selection.

In 6A, Hartselle’s Moriah Taylor made the first team for the third consecutive season. She was a second-team selection in her freshman year. She led Hartselle to the Northwest Regional championship by scoring 18.6 points per game this season. She has signed to play for Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Hartselle sophomore Brody Peebles was named to the second team. During the 2018-19 season, he scored 23.2 points per game and passed 1,000 career points this season.

In Class 4A, Priceville’s Kathleen Wheeler was named to the first-team for the second consecutive season. She was a third-team selection during her sophomore season. During the 2018-19 season she averaged 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals a game. She scored in double digits every game this season and had seven double-doubles. She finished her career as the Priceville all-time leading scorer with over 2,000 points.  She has signed to play at Samford University in Birmingham.

Priceville sophomore Jenna Walker was a second-team selection. She averaged scored 10.8 points and 7.1 assists a game. She surpassed 500 career assists during the season. She had a 16 assist game early in the season which is good for 6th place in AHSAA single-game history.

Danville’s Jolee Cole was named to the third-team after leading scoring 15.5 points per game. She was a second-team selection last year. She has signed to play for Faulkner University.
