The Hartselle Tiger football team took to the field last Friday night for a Spring Game with Bob Jones. Freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity teams each played two quarters.
This was the first spring practice for the Tigers under coach Bryan Moore. Last season’s spring practice was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We had a really good spring after missing last year,” said Moore. “We had 19 practices in 27 days that improved our football program.”
The varsity Tigers fell to Bob Jones 28-17 but showed some big-play ability in the loss. Junior quarterback Jack Smith connected on several passes, including one for a long touchdown to Izayah Fletcher. Another long pass to I. Fletcher was ruled down at the one-yard line. Ri Fletcher punched it in two plays later.
The varsity team was missing several would-be starters on both sides of the ball who are still playing baseball.
