Spring practice has been going on for the past couple of weeks for the Hartselle Tigers. The Tigers, who were ranked No. 2 going into the state playoffs, return key players on both sides of the ball, including wide receiver Izayah Fletcher and running back Ri Fletcher.
“Spring is a time to reintroduce who we are and establish the identity of our program,” said coach Bryan Moore. “We are excited to go back to the basics and rebuild our team. Our off-season was great, and our kids worked really hard. We are excited to see how that applies to the field.”
This spring is Moore’s third with the Tigers, and he continues to put his stamp on the program and build it into a perennial state playoff contender.
Despite losing quarterback JT Blackwood to graduation, Moore said that the quarterback position would be a strength for the Tigers. Rising junior Landon Blackwood, JT’s brother, is leading the way this spring as Rising senior Jack Smith, last season’s back-up, is currently with the Tigers baseball program. Rising sophomore Noah Lee is also getting meaningful snaps with the team.
Hartselle will conclude spring practice this Saturday with a spring game with Huntsville at JP Cain Stadium. The freshman team will play at 9 a.m., followed by the junior varsity team at 10 a.m. and then the varsity at 11 a.m.
