Hartselle improved to 8-0 following a 95-54 blowout victory over St. John Paul II.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 12-5 lead that forced the Falcons to take their first timeout at the 5:45 mark of the first quarter. Hartselle extended their lead to 31-15, as they went on a 19-10 run following the timeout. The Falcons closed the quarter with a 4-0 run to make the score 31-19 heading to the second. Brody Peebles had 14 points in the quarter to lead the Tigers, while Josh Price had 14 for the Falcons.
Hartselle continued to pull away in the second quarter as they outscored JPII 29-16 to extend their lead to 60-35 at halftime.
The Tigers’ 31 first-quarter points and 60 halftime points were both a season-high scoring mark. They had 21 points off turnovers to help build the lead.
Peebles finished the first half with 21 points, while Kiah Key added 18 points to give Hartselle two double-digit scores in the first half for the third consecutive game.
Hartselle opened the third quarter with a 15-2 run that pushed the lead to 75-37. Peebles scored eight of the first 11 before exiting for the evening. The Tigers held JPII to a total of 11 points in the third as they extended their lead out to 86-46 to close out the quarter.
The Tigers outscored the Falcons 9-8 in the fourth to make the final score 95-54.
Hartselle (8-0) was led by Peebles, who finished with a game-high 29 points, while Key had 18 points. Luke Ward scored 11 points to give the Tigers a third player in double-digits.
St. John Paul II (2-2) was led by Price, who finished with 20 points, while Nick Stokes had nine points.
