The Austin Black Bears continued their rise through the polls as they moved to No. 7 in Class 7A in the ASWA Rankings released on Tuesday.
The Black Bears (2-0) started the season ranked outside the Top 10 but after wins blowout victories over Hartselle and Decatur to start the season, they have quickly moved up the rankings.
Austin will open Class 7, Region 8 play on Friday night when they host Florence.
The only other school in Morgan County to be ranked is Decatur Heritage. They fell two spots to No.9 in Class 1A following a road loss at Colbert Heights last week. The Eagles (0-2) go on the road to Phillips (0-2) to open region play.
Other teams to receive votes were Priceville (Class 4A) and Falkville (Class 2A). Both teams open region play on Friday as Priceville travels to West Morgan and Falkvile hosts Whitesburg Christian.
