Falkville dominates all facets of game in defeating Tanner 62-0

“It was a big win against a very good Tanner team,” said Blue Devils’ head coach Tyler Mitchell. “We knew going into the game that they would give us trouble in certain places, and our guys adjusted well.”

Christian Angulo led the Falkville rushing attack with 83 yards rushing and three touchdowns on nine carries and a reception for 30 yards and a score. Jordan Greenfield added 63 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown on seven carries.

Peyton Sallee finished the game eight of 10 for 179 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew Jones had four receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown, while Wyatt Tomlin had a 44-yard touchdown reception.

Mikell Philyaw returned a punt 40 yards for a score and returned an interception 13 yards for a touchdown. He also finished with 11 tackles, including a sack.

“Mikell keeps making big plays for us on defense, offense, and special teams,” said Mitchell.

Falkville’s 62point victory is the largest margin of victory in the series history.

The shutout was the Blue Devils’ fourth of the season. They are averaging allowing 3.9 points per game.

“Defensively, the entire unit stood out,” said Mitchell. “They have two excellent backs, and we knew we had to execute our defensive plan and tackle well.”

The win gives the Blue Devils a two-game win streak over the Rattlers. The last time Falkville had a winning streak in the series was 45 years ago – also a two-game streak.
