The Hartselle Tigers had three dominant pitching performances in their three wins this past week. Five Hartselle pitchers combined to allow only one run in three games, with Hazel Green and Jasper.
Hartselle 3, Hazel Green 0Jack Smith and Eli Tidwell combined for a seven-inning shutout in Hartselle’s 3-0 win over Hazel Green in a rematch of last season’s semifinal matchup.
Smith pitched six innings to earn the win, allowing two hits while striking out a season-high 13. Tidwell picked up the save with a scoreless seventh inning.
Cade Miles hit a two-run home run and scored two runs to lead the Hartselle offense. Tidwell had three hits and an RBI, while JoJo Williamson had two hits. Walker Hoyle scored a run.
Hartselle 10, Hazel Green 0Nic Chumley pitched a complete game one-hitter as the Tigers defeated the Trojans 10-0 to sweep the two-game series. He struck out two and walked two in five innings to get the win.
Hartselle scored five runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to build a 9-0 lead. They added one in the fifth to end the game.
Alabama commit Coleman “Bull” Mizell had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored to lead Hartselle. Greyson Howard had three hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Williamson and Peyton Steele each scored two runs. Cam Palahach had two hits and two RBI and Lawson Williams added two RBI.
Hartselle 13, Jasper 1The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and cruised to a 13-1 win over Jasper behind the dominant pitching performance by Steele and Andrew Coleman.
The two pitchers combined to no-hit the visiting Vikings. Steele allowed one unearned run that was the only blemish for the Tigers. He struck out five in four innings, while Coleman struck out two in a scoreless fifth.
Mizell had three hits, including a three-run home run, four RBI and two runs scored to lead Hartselle. Williamson had two hits, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, while Tidwell had two hits and three runs scored. Palahach had three hits and four RBI.
