Falkville opened up area play on Friday with a 51-48 win over Winston County.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 16-8 first-quarter lead. Winston County cut the lead to 25-23 at the halftime break.
Sydnee Fitzgerald scored nine first-half points to help give Falkville the two-point lead.
Winston County outscored the Blue Devils 14-12 in the third quarter to tie the game at 37-37 heading into the fourth.
Makenzie Veal scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help Falkville outscore Winston County 14-11 to get the three-point victory.
Falkville (6-2, 1-0) was led by Fitzgerald, who finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Veal had 14 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three blocks. Ellie Cate Hill had six points and nine steals.
Winston County (1-4, 0-1) was led by Bailey Kelly and Izzy Cofer who had 10 points apiece.
