Hartselle opened the game with a 13-0 run and cruised to a 74-61 victory over Fairview Monday night.
Despite trailing by 13, Fairview refused to go away and trailed 24-12 at the end of the first quarter.
The Aggies cut the lead to 26-17 less than two minutes into the fourth. The Tigers closed the second quarter on a 19-1 run that included points from six different players to grab a 45-18 halftime lead.
Hartselle opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run by Brody Peebles to extend the lead to 51-18. Fairview outscored the Tigers 15-2 over the next three minutes to cut the lead to 53-33. Hartselle closed the quarter by outscoring the Aggies 13-6 to take a 66-39 lead to the fourth quarter.
Fairview outscored the Tigers 21-8 in the final quarter to make the final score 74-61.
Hartselle (10-1) was led by Peebles, who scored 22 points in just over two quarters of action. Luke Ward added 12 points, and Kiah Key had eight. The Tigers’ bench players combined to scored 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
Fairview was led by O. Yarbrough, who scored a game-high 30 points.
