Pedings double-double leads Priceville to 48-47 win over Brewer

Priceville hosted Brewer for their second meeting in the last two weeks. The Patriots won the previous matchup 65-51 and were riding a three-game win streak.

The first quarter was a battle of runs. The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead, but the Patriots answered back with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to one. Priceville then closed the quarter on a 5-0 run to lead 12-6.

The teams went back in forth in the second, with the Bulldogs clinging to their six-point lead before Brewer added three points before halftime to cut the Priceville lead to 22-19.

The Patriots took their first lead of the game with a 4-0 run to start the third quarter to grab a 23-22 lead. Caleb Pedings then took over the game for Priceville by scoring eight of the game’s next 10 points to give the Bulldogs a 30-24 lead. Brewer cut the lead again to 30-27 right before the end of the third quarter.

The Patriots took the lead once again with a 4-0 run to start the fourth to grab a 31-30. Pedings once again took over with a 9-3 run to give the Bulldogs a 39-34 lead. Brewer went on a 5-0 run to tie the game at 39-39.

Priceville then hit back to back three-pointers to grab a 45-39 lead with a little more than a minute to go. Brewer fought back with a 7-1 run to cut the Bulldog’s lead to just one with less than 20 seconds to go.

Pedings put Priceville up three by hitting two free throws with 12 seconds to go. The Patriots quickly got the ball up the court, but the Priceville defense stiffened and shut down the passing lanes. Brewer settled for a layup at the buzzer to make the final score 48-47.

Pedings finished with a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead Priceville (4-4), with Cole Lindeman adding 12 points.

Brewer (4-4) was led by Dawson Lindsey, who finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Michael Cloud, Tamarian Watkins, and Hunter Lawrence added seven points apiece.
