Defense leads Danville to victory over Rogers

HANCEVILLE – Danville’s defense held Rogers to two points in the third quarter and that fueled the Hawks 49-34 victory at the Wallace State New Year’s Bash.

Danville (12-4) led 25-19 at halftime. They outscored the Pirates 14-2 in the third to take a 39-21 lead into the fourth.

Wren Cole led Danville with 20 points and seven rebounds while KJ Melson added 14 points and Kohl Randolph had seven.

Cole and Melson combined to hit six 3-pointers in the game.

Rogers (3-11) was led by Charlie Henry who scored 12 points. He was held to one point in the second half.

MILESTONE: Cole joined the 1,000 point club during tonight’s game.

UP NEXT: Danville will travel to Priceville for an area game on Tuesday night.
