Lady Tigers improve to 10-4 on road at Briarwood Christian

The Hartselle Lady Tigers improved to 10-4 with a road win at Briarwood Christian on Dec. 14. Earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers, playing without a couple of players, fell to visiting Pell City.

Hartselle 49, Briarwood Christian 34

On Dec. 14, the Lady Tigers traveled to Briarwood Christian for a matchup with the Lady Lions. Hartselle prevailed in the contest, winning 49-34. The Lady Tigers led 12-9 after the first quarter and 26-24 at halftime.

Hartselle’s defense held Briarwood Christian to just 10 second-half points, as the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Lions 23-10 to get the victory.

Hannah Burks led Hartselle with a game-high 14 points. Gracie Hill added 10 points and two steals. Olivia Dobbins and Mary Frances Itsede scored eight points each, with Itsede recording 12 rebounds.

Pell City 57, Hartselle 49

The Lady Tigers, playing without Anna Hampton Burroughs and Elsie Boyd, battled with visiting Pell City but unfortunately came up short, losing 57-49. Pell City led 17-13 after the first quarter and 32-23 at halftime. They extended their lead to 53-38 heading into the fourth quarter. Hartselle tried to rally in the fourth but ran out of gas after outscoring Pell City 11-4.

The Lady Tigers were led by Hill, who scored a team-high 17 points while hitting five three-pointers. Burks added 13 points and three blocks. Ella Springer had six points, while Anna Claire Gladden and Itsede added five points each. Itsede also pulled down nine rebounds.
