Hartselle’s Kelvin Morris signed with the UT-Chattanooga Mocs football program on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
“This scholarship means the hard work has really paid off,” said Morris. “The scholarship, for me, is not the end but just the beginning.”
Morris, a 6’1, 240 lb defensive lineman, played one season at Hartselle after transferring from Clay-Chalkville. He finished his senior season with 99 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks in 10 games.
“Moving to Hartselle was truly a blessing,” Morris said. “I feel like if I was still in Birmingham, I wouldn’t have gotten the same opportunity I have now.”
“Kelvin plays with tremendous energy and toughness.” Hartselle coach Bryan Moore said. “Kelvin helped to change the culture of our program. I don’t have words for how proud I am of him. I love Kelvin and his family and know he’s going to represent Hartselle well. He is going to be a great player for them and he’s going to get a degree from a great school.”
