Brody Peebles signs with Liberty University to play basketball

Brody Peebles signed his National Letter of Intent this morning in a signing celebration at Hartselle High School.

Today was the first day that prospective college athletes can sign a National Letter of Intent with a Division I school.

Peebles committed to Liberty and coach Ritchie McKay on December 10, 2019.

“I am excited to make this official in signing with Liberty,” said Peebles. “I can’t wait to get to Liberty and play for coach McKay and the Flames.”

Faron Key has coached Peebles for four seasons. In his time under Key, Peebles has broken the boys’ scoring record and three-point record and will continue to add to those numbers this season.

“Brody has a chance to do some truly remarkable things before leaving Hartselle High School,” said coach Faron Key. “But more important than numbers, it is his leadership on this team and how the players look up to him and want to be just like him.”

According to his mother, Nikki, Brody’s passion for basketball sets him apart as a player.

“As a mom, I am really comfortable with Brody signing with Liberty,” his mom said. “Liberty will help him grow a player but more importantly grow as a man and as a Christian.”

His father, Dewayne, spoke about how Brody has always dreamed of playing Division I basketball.

“We are blessed to know that he will be playing for an incredible coach and staff,” his father said. “He is going to a place in Liberty that will take care of him as a person. It is a place that fits him.”

Brody said that Hartselle means the world to him.

“My coaches, especially coach Key and coach Miles, means a lot to me. They have played a huge part in my growth as a player and as a person.”
