Hartselle’s Taylor and Priceville’s Wheeler Selected for Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Basketball Games

 

Hartselle’s Moriah Taylor and Priceville’s Kathleen Wheeler has been selected to play in the annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Basketball Games. The games, which are set for Friday, March 15, will be played at Alabama State’s Acadome in Montgomery.

Taylor, who signed with Georgia State, led Hartselle to the Northwest Regional Final where they lost to Carver-Birmingham. She finished her career with  2, 195 points. She’s has been named a first-team All-State selection three times and a second-team selection as a freshman. She played a key role as a freshman in Hartselle advancing to the state tournament. She led Hartselle to the regional final last year where they lost to eventual 6A state champion Hazel Green.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to play in the All-Star game,” said Taylor. “I am excited to be playing with several of my friends and another GA State signee, Taylor Henderson.”

Wheeler, who signed with Samford, led Priceville to the Northwest Regional Tournament where they lost in overtime to eventual 4A state champion Rogers. She finished her career as Priceville’s all-time leading scorer with 2,044 points while also pulling down 945 rebounds. Her career averages were 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She was named first-team all-state as a junior and senior and was a third-team selection as a sophomore.

“I could not be happier for Kathleen,” said Priceville head coach Terri Nelson. “Being selected to the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game is a wonderful accomplishment. She is the first girls basketball player from Priceville to receive this honor. Kathleen has had a wonderful career.”
