Holshouser Hits Game Winner at the Buzzer to Defeat Bob Jones

With time running out in a tie ballgame, Hailey Holshouser hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Hartselle a 36-33 victory over Bob Jones on Friday night.

Holshouser scored seven of her nine points in the fourth quarter but now were bigger than her game-winning 3-pointer.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 18-13 lead at halftime. Masyn Marchbanks, who scored a game-high 18 points, scored 13 of the 18 points. The other five were scored by Lillyanna Cartee.

Hartselle had taken a 33-31 lead with just over 30 seconds left in the game on a Marchbanks free throw. She then missed the next free throw and then picked up her fifth foul on the rebound.

The foul sent Deja Quinn to the line and she hit both free throws to tie the game at 33.

Hartselle hurried the ball up the court but struggled to get in an offense and that is when Holshouser took over. She got a pass from Maggie McCleskey with about three seconds remaining. She took a couple of dribbles and then turned around for her shot. As the buzzer sounded the ball fell into the net for the victory.

Bob Jones was led by Quinn’s 13 points, including all eight Lady Patriot points in the fourth quarter. Kamryn Knight added a double-double, 10 points, and 14 rebounds. Bob Jones outrebounded Hartselle 34-17.

Hartselle improves to 3-2 while Bob Jones falls to 1-4.
