Priceville Lady Bulldogs Preview

The Priceville Lady Bulldogs enter the season looking to build off last year’s success as they won 24 games and spent the majority of the season ranked No. 1 in Class 4A.

To reach the level of last year’s squad, the Lady Bulldogs will need to replace Kathleen Wheeler and Skylar Benson who combined to score more than 50% of Priceville’s points last season.

Wheeler, who was named the 4A Player of the Year and was a two-time all-state selection, signed with Samford to continue her basketball career. She finished her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,044 points.

Coach Terri Nelson has an experienced team returning despite the losses of Wheeler and Benson.

Leading the pack will be junior point guard Jenna Walker. She is one of two returning starters for the Lady Bulldogs and is the team’s leading returning scorer at 11 points per game. She also averaged 7.3 assists per game. She currently ranks 24th all-time in assists in the AHSAA with 547.

Also returning for Priceville will be seniors Olivia Duran, Lannah Johnson, and Elizabeth Halbrooks. Duran is the only other returning starter for the Lady Bulldogs. Joining them will be juniors Katrina Rotermund, Tia Lambert, Abigail Garrison, and Brianna Marquette.

Sophomore Olivia Gann and freshman Zoey Benson will be joining the team after playing in a few games late in the season.
Newcomers to the team will be sophomores Kylie Hendrix and Natalie Cartee.

The Lady Bulldogs will be tested early on as they will face Hartselle and Brewer within the first five games of the season. Following the Encore Classic at Hartselle, the Lady Bulldogs will jump right into area play the first week of December.

“I am looking forward to this being a great year for Priceville,” said Coach Terri Nelson.
