STEVENSON – The Priceville Bulldogs matched the school record of eight straight wins to start the season with their 41-14 victory on the road at North Jackson.

“I was proud of our teams’ performance,” said Priceville head coach Chris Foster. “I thought North Jackson was a very physical team that would provide a good test for how far our offensive line has come over the season. Our defense did a great job keeping North Jackson in check and even scoring some points of their own.”

The Bulldogs, who have struggled in previous trips to Stevenson made quick work of the Chiefs in the 4A Region 8 matchup this past Friday.

Mason Cartee scored three first-half touchdowns to help the Bulldogs build a 24-0 lead at halftime. He had scoring runs of 45, 1, and 55 yards with 159 yards rushing in the first half. He finished with 203 yards on 22 carries to lead Priceville.

Eighth-grader Landon Byer kicked two field goals in his first varsity game for the Bulldogs.

Bryant Stephens had a 24-yard interception return to push the Bulldogs’ lead to 34-0 in the fourth quarter. Sage Smother capped off the Priceville scoring with a 25-yard run in the fourth quarter to push their lead to 41-6.

The Bulldogs improve to 5-0 in region play with their biggest games of the season upcoming. They face Westminster Christian (4-1) and Randolph (5-0) over the next two weeks to determine who will go into the 4A playoffs as the top seeds in Region 8.

The Bulldogs’ defense will be tested as Westminster and Randolph are two of the top five scoring teams in the state.
