Peebles & Sivley Lead Hartselle to Win Over Austin

Hartselle’s Brody Peebles and Tad Sivley combined to score 42 points to lead the Tigers to a 62-59 victory over Austin on Tuesday night. 

Sivley led the way with his first double-double of the season as he scored 21 points and hauled in 10 rebounds while Peebles added 21 points. 

Austin’s defense focused on shutting down Peebles as he entered the game averaging 33 points per game. 

With all of the attention on Peebles, Sivley took over the game for the Tigers. He scored eight of his 21 in the first quarter as Hartselle took a 13-11 lead into the second quarter. 

Peebles finished with 13 points in the first half as the Tigers held on to a 30-29 at halftime.   

Austin would outscore Hartselle 14-12 in the third quarter to take a one-point lead, 43-42, into the final quarter. Sivley scored six points to keep the Tigers close. 

The Tigers began to pull away late in the game as they went on an 8-0 run to expand a two-point lead, 53-51, to ten points. 

Austin closed on an 8-1 run but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers held on for the 62-59 win. 

Austin was led by Kelton Petty’s 14 points while Winston Lyle and Quincy Crittendon each added 10 points. 

Hartselle (3-0) travels to Bob Jones on Friday night for a matchup with the 7A Patriots. Austin (2-2) will play at Athens on Friday night.
